Automatic Vacuum Distillation Testers

Heavy petroleum fractions decompose before they boil at atmospheric pressure, so their distillation range must be determined under vacuum. RIGO's automatic testers run the distillation at reduced pressure and convert the results to atmospheric equivalent temperatures.

Overview

Distilling a heavy gas oil or residue at atmospheric pressure would crack the sample before it boiled, changing the very thing being measured. Reduced-pressure distillation lowers the boiling temperature enough to avoid decomposition, and the observed temperatures are then converted to atmospheric equivalents. RIGO's RVD series automates the whole sequence — heating rate, vacuum control, meniscus and volume detection — with pressure ranges to 10 Torr and 100 Torr and optional multi-fraction collection, to JIS K2254 and ASTM D1160.
