The Beginning

After the Second World War, political changes took place in the Indian sub-continent. India was divided and A.Q. Chowdhury, a well-known journalist and former editor for the Assam Herald, joined Ali Bhoy Ltd., Dhaka as its Managing Director for the marketing of radios and cameras in 1948. Thereafter, Prof. S.N. Mitra of the Department of Physics, Dhaka University inspired the young A.Q. Chowdhury to establish the present company.

In 1950, A.Q. Chowdhury was formally registered as a company dealing in scientific products. By 1954 it was already known throughout Pakistan as the leading supplier of scientific instruments and chemicals, trading with international companies like Zeiss, Reichert, Leybold, and E. Merck.

After the Liberation War of 1971, Bangladesh got its independence and AQC continued its business as the leading supplier of scientific instruments and chemicals. Today, the company specializes in turnkey packages to set up Scientific Research Centers, Quality Control, Environmental and Science Teaching Laboratories.

These packages include from the supply of equipment to installation, maintenance, and training of the workforce. A.Q. Chowdhury Science & Synergy (Pvt.) Ltd. is Bangladesh's leading supplier of scientific instruments.
