Manufacturer: MGI — Latvia

Overview

The MGISP-100 is an automated laboratory workstation purpose-built for DNA sequencing library preparation, combining a fixed 8-channel pipetting head with integrated PCR, magnetic-bead purification, and temperature-control modules. It automates roughly 90% of the library preparation workflow, processing 8 to 16 samples per run, with a standard throughput of 16 samples per run, while removing operators from repetitive manual steps. Built-in UV disinfection and HEPA filtration protect against cross-contamination throughout the run. The MGISP-100B configuration extends the platform to nucleic acid extraction and PCR setup, adding flexible throughput options for laboratories that need a broader workflow. As an open platform, the MGISP-100 supports customized script development, giving laboratories the flexibility to adapt the system to their own protocols.

Automated Workflow and Sample Throughput

The MGISP-100 automates approximately 90% of the sequencing library preparation workflow, reducing manual intervention and improving run-to-run reproducibility. It supports flexible sample processing of 8 to 16 samples per run, with a standard throughput of 16 samples per run, to match different laboratory demands.

Precision Liquid Handling

A fixed 8-channel pipetting head covers a volume range of 1 µL to 200 µL, with a coefficient of variation below 5% at 1 µL and below 1% at 200 µL. Pipetting accuracy is within ±10% at 1 µL and ±1% at 200 µL, and the robotic arm delivers positioning accuracy of ±0.1 mm for consistent, repeatable liquid transfers.

Integrated Temperature Control

An onboard PCR module operates across a temperature range of 4°C to 99°C, with an accuracy of ±0.3°C and a uniformity of ±0.2°C. A separate temperature control module spans 4°C to 90°C with ±1°C accuracy and uniformity, supporting reagent conditioning and enzymatic reaction steps within the same run.

Contamination Control

An ISO5 HEPA filtration system combined with a UV lamp delivering a radiation dose greater than 100,000 µW·s/cm² keeps the work area contamination-free. Together with an enclosed laminar flow environment, these features protect sensitive NGS library preparation reactions from cross-contamination.

Flexible Configurations and Open Platform

The MGISP-100 is available in multiple configurations, including a standard setup for library preparation and the MGISP-100B configuration for nucleic acid extraction and PCR setup. As an open platform, it supports customized script development so laboratories can adapt automated protocols to their own workflows.

Compact, Space-Saving Design

The system integrates its PCR, magnetic-bead purification, and temperature-control modules into a compact footprint of 725 mm × 780 mm × 777 mm and weighs approximately 130 kg. This space-saving design allows the MGISP-100 to fit onto a standard laboratory bench while consolidating multiple workflow steps into a single instrument.
