Overview
Desiccating cabinets are sealable storage enclosures, generally containing a desiccant, used to protect moisture-sensitive specimens, mounts, and reagents from ambient humidity, and are sometimes used to actively dry a nearly-dry sample. The range spans vacuum desiccators, the Secador auto-desiccator cabinet line, and stainless steel and molded plastic or Plexiglas cabinets, offering different capacities and sealing performance for lab bench or shelf storage. A pressure-relief valve accessory is available for the stainless steel cabinets, and small stackable HIPS plastic cabinets and rechargeable indicating desiccant canisters extend the line to smaller-scale storage needs.
Cabinet Types
Vacuum desiccators, Secador auto-desiccator cabinets, and stainless steel or Plexiglas/plastic cabinets offer a range of capacities and construction materials. The choice depends on the volume of material to be stored and the required seal quality.
Accessories
A pressure-relief valve is available for stainless steel cabinets to safely equalize internal pressure. Rechargeable, color-indicating desiccant canisters can be used inside smaller stackable plastic cabinets to show when recharging is needed.
