Molybdenum Disc Apertures
Molybdenum disc apertures are the alternate metal-aperture line offered alongside platinum, made to the same exacting standards for hole size and hole placement.

Manufacturer: SPI Supplies — USA
Overview
Molybdenum disc apertures are the alternate metal-aperture line offered alongside platinum, made to the same exacting standards for hole size and hole placement. They are supplied in the same range of standard outer diameters and thicknesses used across SEM and TEM instrument families, from 2 mm to 6.5 mm OD and 0.1 mm to 0.6 mm thick. Hole sizes span roughly 10 µm to 500 µm depending on the disc size selected. Molybdenum apertures are a lower-cost alternative to platinum for applications where extreme chemical inertness is less critical, and they are used as condenser and objective apertures across the same brand-specific mounting geometries as the platinum line.
Construction and Tolerances
Like the platinum line, molybdenum apertures are drilled to the smallest possible tolerances in hole size and hole placement, following the same brand-specific OD and thickness standards used across the SPI Supplies aperture range.
Instrument Compatibility
Molybdenum discs are available in the 2 mm OD x 0.6 mm size for JEOL/Leica/Cambridge/Siemens/Cameca instruments, 3 mm OD x 0.1 mm and 3.04 mm OD x 0.25 mm sizes for AMRAY/AEI/Electroscan/FEI/Philips/JEOL/Leitz systems, 4 mm OD x 0.2 mm for CAMSCAN/TOPCON/ISI/ABT, and 6.35 mm and 6.5 mm OD sizes for ETEC/Autoscan/Perkin Elmer and Hitachi/Nissei Sangyo instruments.
