Atom Probe Tomography (APT)
Atom probe tomography reconstructs a specimen atom by atom, delivering three-dimensional compositional maps with near-atomic resolution and ppm-level sensitivity – the ultimate microscope for nanoscale materials research.

Overview
In atom probe tomography, individual atoms are field-evaporated from a needle-shaped specimen and identified by time-of-flight mass spectrometry, then reconstructed into a three-dimensional map of the analyzed volume. The technique provides equal sensitivity for all elements – including light elements such as hydrogen, lithium, and boron – making it uniquely powerful for studying precipitates, grain boundaries, dopant distributions, and interfaces in metals, semiconductors, and energy materials. CAMECA is the world's leading supplier of atom probe instrumentation.
