RS4000 Top Performance Optical Tables with Six Precision Tuned Dampers

Overview

RS4000 optical table tops feature six precision tunable dampers that target a majority of the table's resonances, delivering the best passive damping performance Newport offers for applications requiring a critical level of vibration control. The RS4000 Series combines Newport's uniquely rigid trussed honeycomb core with its highest level of tuned damping to produce an ultra-quiet tabletop. This makes it ideal for the most demanding applications such as live cell imaging, high-resolution imaging, interferometry, and experiments with long exposure times. The tables require S-2000A isolators or rigid LabLegs for support and use no active damping.

Tuned Mass Damping

RS4000 optical tables use Tuned Mass Damping (TMD) technology, the most effective passive damping method, to concentrate damping efforts at the frequencies of the table's dominant resonance modes. The precisely tuned dampers work from as low as 25 Hz up to 525 Hz, enabling optimum damping even on larger tables whose resonances often fall outside competitors' broadband frequency range.

RS4000 Broadband and Tuned Damping Performance

RS4000 tables feature a 4.8 mm thick skin, a constrained layer core, a damped working surface, and a composite edge finish to provide broadband damping. Six precision tuned dampers are included to selectively eliminate four fundamental structural table modes and their harmonics, making these tables suited to extremely sensitive measurements.

Super Rigid Trussed Honeycomb Core Design

Each piece of corrugated honeycomb steel sheet is immersed in proprietary elastomeric vibration-absorbing material and bonded vertically throughout the core height, creating a much stiffer honeycomb structure. This labor-intensive process ensures the table has the most robust honeycomb core construction available.
