Excelsior is Spectra-Physics' family of low-power continuous-wave solid-state lasers offering a comprehensive range of wavelengths and power levels in the smallest footprint in its class. All Excelsior lasers share the same mechanical footprint across a wide range of power levels and wavelengths, allowing full component interchangeability among laser heads and controllers without additional adjustment or optimization. Excelsior lasers serve flow cytometry, semiconductor inspection, confocal microscopy, micro-array readers, laser-induced fluorescence, Raman spectroscopy, DNA sequencing, and interferometry applications.
Diode-Pumped Solid State Lasers
Excelsior DPSS lasers use patented frequency-doubling techniques to generate visible light with high conversion efficiency, available in a compact laser head or a slightly larger Extended Cavity (XC) housing for the 505, 515, and higher-power 532 and 561 nm models.
Direct Diode Lasers
The Excelsior family also includes direct diode lasers with output powers from 16 to 100 mW, generated directly from a semiconductor gain chip to reduce cost, increase lifetime, and minimize space requirements.
