Micro Carbon Residue Testers

Carbon residue indicates a fuel or oil's tendency to form coke deposits under high-temperature, oxygen-limited conditions — the micro method delivers the same information as the Conradson test from a far smaller sample, with better repeatability.

Rigo — Micro Carbon Residue Testers

Overview

Carbon residue estimates how much coke a heavy fuel or lubricating oil will leave behind when it is heated in the absence of air, which predicts deposit formation in burners, engines and refinery units. The classical Conradson method is slow and needs a large sample; the micro method pyrolyses a small sample in an inert atmosphere under controlled heating and weighs the residue, correlating closely with Conradson values while improving repeatability. RIGO's tester automates the heating programme and gas flow to ASTM D4530 and JIS K2270.
