Automatic Aniline Point Tester (U-Tube Method): RAP-201
The RAP-201 automates the U-tube aniline point test. Aniline and the sample are mechanically mixed in a tube and heated at a controlled rate until the two phases become fully miscible, then cooled at a controlled rate, while a photo-electric sensor monitors the turbidity of the mixture flowing through the center of the U-tube.

Overview
The RAP-201 automates the U-tube aniline point test. Aniline and the sample are mechanically mixed in a tube and heated at a controlled rate until the two phases become fully miscible, then cooled at a controlled rate, while a photo-electric sensor monitors the turbidity of the mixture flowing through the center of the U-tube. The instrument records the temperature at which the mixture is most transparent and the temperature at which it becomes most opaque, and program control is handled by a built-in microcomputer with storage for up to 100 results. The test unit is designed for easy U-tube replacement and improved maintainability and robustness. A low-temperature cooling unit option enables mixed aniline point measurement, and a thin-film method unit option allows manual measurement of dark samples.
Photo-Electric Turbidity Detection
Aniline and the test sample are mechanically mixed inside a U-tube and heated at a controlled rate until the two phases become fully miscible, then cooled at a controlled rate. A photo-electric sensor continuously monitors the transmitted light through the flattened center section of the U-tube and records both the temperature at which the mixture becomes clearest and the temperature at which it becomes most opaque. The aniline point is calculated from these two transition temperatures.
Touch-Panel Operation with Self-Diagnosis
All test conditions are set through a 5.7-inch touch-panel display that also shows start temperature, measurement progress, results, and any abnormal conditions. The instrument automatically self-checks each measurement, and if the result of three repeat measurements exceeds the allowable deviation, it automatically performs two additional measurements. A rapid measurement mode is available to shorten total test time.
Easy Maintenance and U-Tube Replacement
The entire lid slides up and down, allowing the U-tube to be replaced quickly and easily for cleaning or servicing. This design improves both operability and long-term robustness compared with earlier bench models. Cooling after heating is achieved by drawing in outside air, with an optional air pump available to increase the cooling rate.
Built-In Printer and Data Storage
Results are printed automatically from the internal printer, and up to 100 measurement results can be stored in the instrument's internal memory. A standard RS-232C interface allows results to be exported to a computer or laboratory information system. Optional accessories extend capability to dark samples, which are less than ASTM Color #8, via a thin-film method unit for manual measurement, and to low-temperature mixed aniline point testing via a cooling unit.
