Stationary Metal Analyzer: SPECTROCHECK — Arc/Spark Optical Emission Spectrometers (OES) Metal Analyzers

Manufacturer: SPECTRO — Germany

Overview

The SPECTROCHECK stationary metal analyzer is designed to meet the performance requirements – and budgets – of small ferrous and non-ferrous foundries, automotive suppliers, and other metal fabricators. This high-quality, compact, and affordable instrument is ideal for routine analysis of elemental content in iron-, aluminum-, or copper-based metals, delivering unparalleled performance and reliability at the lowest possible price.

Innovative Optics

SPECTROCHECK takes a no-compromises approach with patented optical technology, combining a compact multiplex optics polychromator with selected wavelength image feedback technology (SWIFT). The optical chamber is isolated and temperature-maintained for measurement stability, and new CMOS sensors add flexibility. The system is optimized for the elements found in common foundry metals, minimizing spectral interferences, maintaining high stability, and enabling better separation of neighboring spectra in line-rich analyses.

New Performance and Savings

Ultra-fast one-sample standardization based on SPECTRO's Intelligent Calibration Logic (iCAL) saves an average of 30 minutes per day and eliminates constant, expensive recalibrations. New argon-saving features allow total flow shutoff during downtimes and 70% less argon consumption during standby. The redesigned, space-saving housing is 35% more compact and configured for easy, safe access to components from both sides and the back.

Practical Hardware for the Foundry

A digitized, high-precision plasma generator and ignition system sparks at up to 1000 Hz. The spark stand is modified for easy use and maintenance with samples up to 15 kg (33 lb), and new small-parts adapters handle wires from less than 1 mm up to 3 mm as well as sheets. A new argon block combined with a cleaning cartridge provides configurable flow shutoff and fast startup.

Simplified, Plug-In Software

SPECTROCHECK requires little to no learning curve: an icon-based, menu-free interface delivers fast, easy startup and intuitive operation even for operators without specialized knowledge. A unique plug-in approach allows customized functionality – users purchase separate software modules for control-standard or type-standard samples, grade identification, and more, adding modules only as needs evolve. Open, license-free method development and calibration extensions are available, and the extended standard grade library covers iron-, aluminum-, and copper-based matrices.
